Pre-Ballet Class Information

All new students must register before attending classes. Registration is via our Parent Portal.
Most Pre-Ballet Classes are offered in 6-week sessions, unless otherwise noted.
You must enroll in each session – enrollment in the next Pre-Ballet session does not happen automatically.
Tuition is due by the first class of each session. If you prefer to pay with cash or check, please bring it to the first class labeled with your child's name. Otherwise do nothing and we will charge your card on file after the first week of the session.
Cancellation: Written notice of cancellation is due by the 2nd class of the session. If notice is received after that, you will be charged for a full session and no refunds will be issued.
Illness: If you or your dancer are feeling unwell – fever, cough, sore throat, etc – we ask that you wear a mask (for mild cases) or keep your dancer home.
Class Observation is only allowed during the first class of each session. Please bear in mind our studios are small and we don’t have adequate seating, so it can be disruptive to have parents and/or siblings observing classes. We understand the desire to watch your child in class, but it’s important for teachers to have the full focus of the students.
Dress Code
- Clothes: Dancers are encouraged to wear proper ballet clothing – leotard and optional skirt, or leggings and a not-baggy t-shirt – to help them get into the ballet mood, but it is not required at this age. Any clothes that they can move freely in will also work. To prevent tripping, skirts / dresses should be no longer than knee-length, and pants should be close-fitting and ankle-length or shorter.
- Shoes: Dancers need to wear proper ballet slippers/shoes. We have some shoes to borrow, just come early enough to find a pair that fits. Please re-pair and return the shoes after class.
- Hair: Long hair in a pony-tail, braid or bun; short hair pinned back off of the face.

Class Descriptions

Pre-Ballet A

3+ years old. This is the perfect class for students who have never been in a structured class before. They will learn to listen and follow along in a fun and stimulating environment. The main focus here is that dance should be fun. Children must be able to participate in class without a parent.

Pre-Ballet B

4+ years old. This is a great class for kids who have already completed Pre-Ballet A, or who are in preschool. The expectations are a little higher than Pre-Ballet A, but the class is still playful and fun, while starting to learn basic technique and ballet concepts.

Pre-Ballet C

5+ years old. This is a great class for kids who are in kindergarten. Students will build on their technique basics and will be expected to remember simple choreography.

Beginning Ballet

6-7 years old. This class is ideal for students in kindergarten or first grade, when they are more skilled at listening and following directions, and have the attention capacity for an hour long class. In this class, students will learn basic ballet technique, poise, concepts, and more advanced positions and steps, with the French names. Students will learn more complex choreography at this level.
