School Policies

Sebastopol Ballet provides a structured and nurturing environment for serious and recreational dancers wishing to pursue the art of classical ballet. Ballet is the foundation of all dance forms and our primary focus is the study of technique. Combining this instruction with performance experiences allows each dancer to fulfill her/his potential. We encourage our students to take advantage of all opportunities at Sebastopol Ballet. These include classes with guest teachers in ballet, jazz, modern, and Pilates, in addition to our regular program. Our curriculum offers an interdisciplinary approach for dancers to obtain a versatile dance education.

Hair & Attire

All students in Level I and above are required to wear a leotard, tights, and appropriate shoes. No loose warm ups may be worn at the barre and a skirt may be worn only for center work if approved by the instructor.

It is mandatory that students wear appropriate cover-ups (sweatpants, sweatshirts, dresses, etc) over their dance clothing when entering or leaving the studio.

For girls, hair must be worn in a bun with bangs and “wispies” pinned back.

Please put a hairbrush, hair ties, bobby pins, and an elasticized hair net in your child’s dance bag, if assistance is needed.

Tuition

FULL TUITION is due at the first class of each month.

It is the responsibility of the family and student to arrange for the makeup of missed classes. This includes vacation and illness. There will be no pro-rating unless granted by the instructor. There are no “short months” since “long” months (many months during the year will have 5 of a certain day) do not have an additional cost. If you are not able to commit to a monthly schedule, a single class rate will apply.

Email Communications

Upon enrollment, please provide your email address. This allows communication to be more efficient and emails from our studio provide information about classes, special events, and performances.

Class Observation

Our studio space is very limited. Class observation is allowed at the first class of the month and chairs will be provided upon request. Please do not sit on the floor of the studio to watch your child during any class. We need every inch of floor space.
